Data Visualization: Economic Activities in European Countries from 1991 to 2018

Did you know there is a United Nations agency dealing with problems related to labour? It’s called International Labour Organization (ILO) and apparently it was established as early as 1919! Of course the UN wasn’t a thing back then and the ILO was born in the context of the League of Nations.

Anyway, some months ago I found their website while asking Google about “Employment data by economic activity” and, guess what, this (and more) was exactly the kind of information ILO provides both as articles and (most importantly) as freely available datasets you can download from their ILOSTAT platform!

I’ve always wanted to build an interactive geographical visualization of some kind and this was the perfect occasion except I had to postpone this project as I’ve been busy as a research assistant at my former university in the last few months but now the experience is over and I’ve been able to finally complete this.
